Description
Visitors and employees must be kept safe in work and in public spaces with reasonable precautions taken to prevent trips or falls. Slips and trips are one of the most common causes of injury in the UK. Cleaning can create many hazards such as damp floors, vacuum cords, floor buffing machines or cleaning chemicals. Reasonable precautions to alert people to the dangers include using a ‘caution cleaning in progress’ sign.
Why Choose an A Frame Caution Cleaning Sign?
The A frame cleaning in progress sign is compact, lightweight and easy to carry. The bright yellow sign will alert anyone to the potential hazard and the clear lettering and picture will let people know what is happening in that area. As the sign is compact it can easily be slotted into cleaning trollies without taking up space from cleaning supplies. It’s also easier to carry and more lightweight than a cone. For large buildings such as schools or hospitals the foldable sign is a practical choice as a dozen or more signs can be collapsed and stored in a janitorial cupboard when cleaning isn’t in progress.
Effective Cleaning Tips
Good management and an effective cleaning regime can help minimize hazards and prevent accidents. Good communication between all members of the team is key to ensure the right products are used for the right surface and that safe procedures are followed.
- Use the right cleaning product and the correct amount
- Allow detergents time to work on greasy floors
- Maintain equipment so that is remains effective
- Ensure mops are squeezed to minimise drying time
- Remember wet floors are a major hazard
- Clean up any spillages immediately
- When vacuuming use the nearest electrical point
