The Black Iron Tawa Pan is a traditional flat tawa pan used worldwide in a range of local cuisines to cook bread, meat, eggs and general frying. It can also be used to make flatbreads and paneer cheese.
The iron pan is not coated with any other chemicals, and the metal has a natural non-stick property, which means that the cooked food will not stick to the surface. This makes the pan itself last longer, and the cleaning of the product easier.
How to use a Black Iron Tawa
When your tawa first arrives, it will be unseasoned and still have the manufacturer's protective coating. Before cooking on the pan, thoroughly remove any of the oil and coating on the pan. Once dry, wipe the tawa with a thin layer of oil using a clean cloth. Then, turn the heat up on your hob and burn this oil off. After this, your tawa is ready to season and use.
This pan is ideal for Pav Bhaji, given its flat surface. The pan measures 28” and is 10mm thick, so there is plenty of room for the food to be cooked and seasoned atop the pan. It cooks the vegetables need for the Pav Bhaji easily, making the entire cooking process simple.
The flat iron pan makes it easier to cook healthier food. The tawa heats up quicker than other pans, meaning less oil is needed to get the pan hot enough for food cooking. The even surface of the pan also allows for a more even cooking without burning the food.
The handles also allow for the pan to be easily moved and carried, ideal for busy kitchens where the pan might need to move around the room between uses.
Cleaning a Black Iron Tawa
Do not use detergents or liquid to clean your tawa. Instead, rinse the tawa with hot water and gently scrap off any leftover food debris with a non-metallic sponge. Once it is dry, place it over a high heat to burn off any food particles, ready for the next time you cook.
From stir-fries, to pancakes, to roast vegetables, this Tawa is a must have for any kitchen looking to cook a variety of dishes in an easy and authentic way.
