Iron sheets have a range of uses and are a crucial asset for catering purposes in any kitchen environment. Mostly, Iron sheets have been designed to provide even heat distribution and therefore ensuring excellent results.

Properties and Advantages

Iron has a number of fantastic properties that has made it a staple of most kitchens for decades. Seen in both domestic and commercial kitchens, Iron cookware is generally durable and stackable which makes it easy to store. Iron also has a smooth surface finish, which makes cleaning after use a piece of cake, saving time and money.

Iron possesses some great properties for catering purposes. Iron is excellent for distributing heat evenly and gently which ensures for a much more precise and even bake/cook. Good heat distribution ensures that different items cooked using the bakeware does not cook faster/ slower than others, reducing the chance of burning or undercooking. Iron can also withstand extremely high temperatures, preventing the sheet from warping or melting during use.

Black Iron Care

Black iron cookware is suitable for use on all heat sources including induction. Black iron products are supplied with a coating of protective lacquer that should be removed by washing in hot soapy water prior to use. The products should then be seasoned before use; this is best done by gently heating about 1cm of oil in the base of the pan. After heating the oil, allow it to cool before disposing of the oil, wipe the pan with kitchen paper.

This seasoning starts the beginning of a naturally forming ‘patina’ on the surface. The patina will develop with regular use and the surface of the pan develops a natural non-stick layer. After cooking with black iron, the pan should only be carefully wiped out with kitchen paper.

Always store the pan in a dry place to avoid the pan rusting. If light rust spots do occur, they can be carefully removed with a scourer. The seasoning process should then be repeated before further use.

Black iron products are not dishwasher safe.

Free delivery on all orders over £60 (ex vat) and up to 30kg. Applies to UK mainland (UK Mainland excl. Highlands and Islands) and items held in stock only.

Orders under £60 are charged at £6.95 +VAT for delivery. All orders are dispatched with a Fast Courier Service.

Returning items purchased online

If you purchase a stock item online that you want to return then you can send it back to us within 28 days of the sale and we will refund the value of the items that we receive back in resaleable condition.

Special orders and orders of appliances may incur restocking charges from the manufacturer. This can be up to 30%.

If there was a picking error and you received incorrect items we will arrange for a replacement.

If you receive any damaged items please email us immediately. We require images of the broken item and the packaging within 48 hours of the goods being signed for to process your claim.
